libRIC
Beginning in the fall of 2007, library instruction was aligned with the General Education program at Fort Lewis College. The new instruction program, called libRIC (Library Research Integrated into the Curriculum) replaced the required semester-long, 1-credit Library Research Methods course (LIB 150).
Integrating library instruction into the established curriculum allows students to apply the research skills they are learning to real classroom assignments. This integration encourages student engagement and enhances learning retention.
libRIC instruction is structured into 3 tiers:
- Tier 1 Freshman Composition (Comp 126, Comp 150)
- Tier 2 Intermediate Composition (Comp 250, Comp 252, Comp 253, Engl 268, Hist 250, Soc 210)
- Tier 3 Upper Division Research (Senior Sem or other upper division courses. Coming Fall 2009)
To learn more, read the Library Research Instruction Plan.
