Preprints

Preprints are scholarly papers that are shared before they are peer-reviewed or published in journals. Publication of peer-reviewed journal articles can take months or years. Preprint archives are collections that circulate current research within scholarly communities.

Because preprints have not undergone the rigor of peer-review, researchers should be careful in using them. Despite this, preprints are valuable resources for identifying current research trends.
