Membership Organizations

Listed below is only a small representative sampling of membership marketing associations.  More detailed information on each is listed in the Encyclopedia of Associations, 45th ed.,  a 3-volume work which can be found at the Reference Desk (call number: Ref Desk HS17 .E53 2011 vol.1 pt.1) in the Reed Library.

American Marketing Association (AMA) - This is a professional society of  marketing and market research executives, sales and promotion managers, advertising specialists, academics and others interested in marketing.  It promotes research, sponsors seminars, publishes several professional journals.

Marketing Research Association (MRA)  -  This group is composed of companies and individuals involved in any area of opinion and marketing research, such as data collection , research, or as an end-user.

DECA - An Association of Marketing Students - "DECA, a national association of marketing education students, provides teachers and members with educational and leadership development activities to merge with the education classroom instructional program."

Association of National Advertisers - This group claims to be "the industry's premier marketing and advertising trade association, the only organization exclusively dedicated to serving the interests of corporations that advertise and market their products and services in the U.S."

The American Advertising Federation -  "The American Advertising Federation (AAF) is ... the only professional advertising association that binds the mutual interests of corporate advertisers, agencies, media companies, suppliers and academia. The AAF's 50,000 members share a commitment to make advertising a positive force in America's economy and culture. We are advocates for the rights of advertisers and we educate policymakers, the news media and the general public on the value that advertising brings to the well-being of the nation..."  The site has a directory of organizational members, a governmental relations section, information on professional development, links to local and college chapters, information about the AAF's involvement in promoting diversity and public service, lists of advertising awards, and a calendar of events.
